What is Hypno-Psychotherapy ?

Hypno-Psychotherapy is the practice of Psychotherapy with applied hypnosis being the primary approach. The UKCP is the major organisation for psychotherapy in the UK, and recognises the practice of hypnopsychotherapy. Many of the members of the National HypnoPsychotherapy Council are also on the National Register of Psychotherapists produced and maintained by the UKCP.

What is the difference between Hypnotherapy and HypnoPsychotherapy?

Hypnopsychotherapists study for a 4 years part-time course, including modules set by the UKCP and train in psychotherapeutic theory and practice. Both utilise hypnosis in a therapeutic form but hypnotherapists tend to do a much shorter programme of study.

The National HypnoPsychotherapy Council is actively involved in the whole field of hypnosis and the members are governed by its Code of Ethics and Practice under the auspices of the UKCP.

The National HypnoPsychotherapy Council is linked to the Centre Training School of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy which is recognised by the UKCP for the training of HypnoPsychotherapists.

What is Person-centred Counselling?

Person-centred Counselling was introduced by Carl Rogers , who showed that by the practitioner exhibiting feelings of Respect, Empathy and Positive Regard to the client, this will enable the client to move on from the presenting problem. Acceptance of this basic premise is common-place now in most major therapies, and accepted in many Management Training courses when working with people.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the unison of Cognitive Therapy and Behavioural Therapy and the person responsible for this method of Therapy was Aaron Beck.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is currently popular with the NHS and many therapists , because it is one of the few therapies that is measurable and involves positive actions by the client . There are many scientific papers written to prove the efficacy of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
